2011 VORTECH STREET CHALLENGE RULES  

Street Challenge is a heads-up class designed for muscle cars and late model factory hotrods with driver ability in mind. With very few engine rules, any single power adder and a set of "TRUE" street radial tires and you got one of the toughest classes to tame.


 
Street Challenge Class Guidelines

STARTING LINE: Street Challenge will be utilizing a 4/10th's Pro Tree Starting System

ELIMINATION LADDER: Pro Ladder

BODY: The car must retain it's original appearance and profiles.

LETTERING / DECALS: Right Lower corner of Windshield is reserved for Class Sponsor (Vortech) and Left Lower for Series Sponsor (Chassisworks) A PSCA Oval decal must be placed on each side of every car in a visible location before entering the tech area..

FIREWALL: Must retain factory unaltered firewall, in factory location. A cosmetic overlay is permitted.

INTERIOR / SEATS: Covered door panels, carpet and dashboard are required. Aftermarket front seats that have upholstery or covered are permitted. Factory rear seats can be deleted with carpet overlay.

BRACKET RACING AIDS: The use of bracket racing aids such as optical sensors, delay boxes, stutter boxes, and throttle stops are prohibited.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION

FRAME & CHASSIS: Stock front frame rails must be retained, rear frame rails may be notched (Not Moved) for tire clearance

FRONT SUSPENSION: All cars must retain factory stock-type suspension. Front frame rails, radiator core support, and inner fender sheet metal must remain in stock location (trimming for header clearance permitted). Aftermarket tubular control arms, coil over kits, or OEM front strut retrofits are permitted. But must be a direct bolt on, no welding modifications permitted. Aftermarket Racing Struts with spindle mounts or hub mounts designed for tube type front ends are prohibited. Stock wheelbase will be enforced on all vehicles.  Factory sway bar may be removed.

K-MEMBER: Aftermarket replacement bolt on K-Members are permitted.

REAR SUSPENSION: All cars must retain stock rear suspension. Bolt on traction devices are permitted. Leaf spring relocation kits permitted for tire clearance only. No rear coil-over conversions permitted. Mini-tubs or modifications to the factory wheel tubs is permitted. Factory sway bar may be removed.

WHEEL BASE: Must retain stock wheel base with a maximum variation right to left and front to back of one inch.

WHEELIE BARS: Wheelie bars prohibited

DRIVE TRAIN

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS: No Restrictions

MANUAL TRANSMISSION: No Restrictions

ALL WHEEL DRIVE: Not permitted.

REAR END: Factory type rear end only. Housing may be shortened up to 3" from Factory Specifications. No IRS conversions to solid axles.

AIR FILTER: All air entering carburetor or throttle body must pass through an automotive type air filter (K&N type Air Filters are permitted)

ENGINE MOUNT LOCATION: Engine must remain in stock location...Engine mounts may be solid.

EXHAUST: Production type mufflers are required. No collector inserts permitted. Modification or removal of muffler internals is prohibited (no gutting).

FUEL / FUEL SYSTEMS: The PSCA reserves the right to check fuel at any time. Gasoline is the only fuel permitted. Fuel Cells OK. Mechanical and electric fuel pumps, pressure regulators, and any line size are allowed. 

RADIATOR: An automotive-type radiator is required.

POWER ADDER

SINGLE POWER ADDER ONLY: Any single type power adder is legal. You can have as many nitrous systems (but not in combination with blower or turbo) You can have twin turbochargers (but cannot add a nitrous system in conjunction)

STREET LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

HEADLIGHTS & TAILLIGHT: All entries are required to have working headlights and tail light (headlights doors must be fixed open or work manually or automatically on cars so equipped). Brake lights, turn signals are not required.

TIRES: Front tires must be DOT Approved and have a minimum tread width of 4.5 inches. Rear tires must be a true "off the shelf" radial tire with a minimum tread rating of "180". Tire size is based off a P255/60 R15. 16-18in "off the shelf" radials permitted but cannot exceed the following dimensions: 10.25" section width, 8.2" tread width, 27.0" overall diameter. The tread of these tires must not protrude outside the body line at the top of the tire. If your car came from the factory with a tread rating lower than 180, bring factory info on the tires with proof tires came with vehicle.
NO DRAG RADIALS, ROAD RACE, RE-CAPS, SNOW TIRES PERMITTED, ALSO,  no adding in any manner of chemicals (Track-Bite, etc...) or "Soaking" to soften the tire rubber is allowed and will result in an immediate disqualification...

STREET CHALLENGE

Cars will not be weighed

SCSN Required Decals & Plate:

Class Sponsor Decal 
"Vortech" decal must be installed on base of windshield on the passenger side. (Bottom left hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield)
Event Sponsor Decal 
"Chassisworks" decal must be installed on base of windshield on the drivers side. (Bottom right hand side when looking at front of vehicle windshield)
SCSN VII License Plate 
All cars must display the "2011 SCSN VII" Front License Plate either on the front bumper or grille before passing tech. Plate will be given to racers at registration......

Decals will be available during registration at the SCSN Event Trailer

Contingency Program & Contingency Decals:
All contingency decals may appear anywhere on the vehicle in a clear and organized fashion. Contingency decals may not be overlapped or modified. Most decals are available at the SCSN Event Trailer, but in the event the SCSN does not have the decals in stock, it is the racer's responsibility to obtain the proper decals to be eligible for the Contingency payout.


RACE DAY POLICY'S

Field Size and Ladder:
Street Challenge
will qualify for a 32-car field (with Alternates) and will be put on a 32-car Pro Ladder. If less than 32 cars enter, we will follow the NHRA "Official Ladder" for the field size....
All cars that DO NOT QUALIFY, will be eligible to enter into our Bracket-1 Class on Sunday that will pay a guaranteed $1250.00 to WIN....

Alternates:
If there are more than 32 cars qualifying for the 32-car field, we will start inserting alternates (To replace broken qualified cars) starting at spot 33 and so on... If you are an alternate, and a spot opens up, you will be inserted in the 1st available position before the drivers meeting on Sunday morning. This will give the qualified cars overnight to get the cars repaired.

TOW BACK & TOW VEHICLES:
Street Challenge does not allow tow vehicles of any sort... All Street Challenge vehicles must drive to the staging lanes, scales and return to pits without the aide of any other Motorized Vehicle, Golf Cart, Quad, Scooter, etc...

Alternating Lanes During Qualifying:
Each Street Challenge driver must alternate lanes during qualifying.  If you choose to ignore this rule, your second consecutive pass in the same lane on the same day will be disqualified.

Auto-Start:
The Auto-Start System will be turned on with a 7-sec timeout

BYE-RUNS:
All vehicles must take the tree, and run down the 1/4 mile.

The SCSN has the right to change or alter these rules/weights at anytime up to October 17th, 2011 at which time they will become final...
